All classes are limited to 6 students so everyone gets as much attention as they want & need. Come in and pay for your place so we can hold a chair for you!
In just two weeks we will cover the basics of crochet including
free form crochet and a bit of pattern reading. From flowers to granny squares to a
mesh market bag, we'll be having all sorts of fun!
Skills needed: none!
You'll need light colored yarn and an appropriate hook.
Bring any hooks you have or buy one at class
Spot & fix snags, dropped stitches and knits that
should’ve been purls. We'll be unknitting, duplicate stitching
and even hiding our ends!
Skills needed: Cast on, knit, purl.
You'll need a 4" X 4" stockinette swatch knit of light-colored worsted weight wool. Don't bind off, rather, bring it to class still on the needles. You will also
need a blunt tapastry (darning) needle.
This is an Elizabeth Zimmermann lace classic and one of the favorite models at the Exchange.
The pattern is in "February" chapter her book The Knitter’s Almanac. This is a fun introduction
to lace and can also be made in adult sizes as well if you want to go big.
Skills needed: Cast on, knit & purl.
You'll need a copy of the Knitter's Almanac ($7.95 at the store), yarn and needles. Generally this is made

How liberating to drop stitches on purpose! This simple yet impressive looking
technique is a perfect chance to add another skill to your beginner tool bag.
Skills needed: Cast on & knit.
You'll need yarn & needles. Choose anything lovely and wonderful... something to wrap around
your neck with style & abandon! I like to use slightly-too big needles for this pattern.
Socks are the greatest of all knitted objects. Small, fun, challenging, and
oh so amazing to wear, socks are a very satisfying adiction indeed. Learn to make your first
pair or come and push your skills a bit. We’ll spend three evenings, with two weeks between them, working
on the basic top-down socks on double-pointed-needles. From swatiching-in-the-round to the kitchner
stitch we'll cover all sorts of sock-skills & sock-tips.
Skills needed: Cast on, knit & purl.
The basic
pattern is included but you will need yarn and needles. (Get a jump
on the class by getting your supplies early and swatching before the
first class)
