A great introduction to circular knitting we will use both circular needles and double-pointed needles to design and knit a custome fit hat. While knitting Maud will talk about some of the tips and tricks of knitting in the round that she's picked up over the decades.
This is the classic... Elizabeth Zimmermann's Rib Warmer vest. EZ's Spin Out pattern "Rib Warmer Revisitited" is included in the price of the class. Not only will we make the classic version but Maud will go over all sorts of ways to customize this great pattern including the stand up collar, attached I-cord, and adapting the pattern to be either longer or wider... or both!
Marterials: This pattern can be adapted to most any yarn you fall in love with but the classic is made from Unspun Icelandic and a 24" needle.
Skills: Only the most basic of
knitting skills are necessary... this is a perfect "next
level" after you grow bored with scarves and washcloths.
Socks are the greatest knitted object ever. Learn to make your first pair or come and push your skills. We’ll spend three weeks working on the basic top-down socks on dpns. Already love to knit socks? Come and try lace socks, or cabled, or maybe try two socks at one time! Materials: The basic pattern is included but you will need a skein of sock yarn and a set of appropriately sized double pointed needles. (Get a jump on the class by getting your supplies early and swatching before the first class)
Looking for the perfect chance to knit your first
sweater? This may be it. Over three classes you will
design, cast on and knit your dream sweater. Based on your
measurements, the yarn that calls your name, and the needles
you like to use, this sweater will be your personal statement and
instant best friend.
This is the "True Mobius" - a one-sided object - a scarf that is great fun to hand to people and watch their face as they try to figure it out. The magic is all in the cast on... after that it is nothing but knitting until you are ready to cast off.
These are stand-alone skill based classes to expand your skills and ramp up your courage! Please bring worsted weight white (or very light) wool yarn and needles.
Art of Knitting Classes are all on Saturdays from 3:00 - 4:30 and are $20 a piece - you can take one or all of them. Maud will assume you can cast on, knit and purl. If not, let her know.
